Jan always strives to be the best at whatever she does. She made the decision to start
at the top when she obtained her real estate broker's license knowing the challenge of a
woman entering the predominantly male industry of real estate, so she bypassed the
"sales license" to obtain the higher "Real Estate Broker" designation.
- A pioneer in the real estate industry, Jan was the first and only woman in her branch
office.
- Jan wrote and produced the first "Relocation Guide" for people
transferring into Fort Wayne.
- Jan and her husband produced the first multimedia presentation, "At Home in Fort
Wayne," which was used to "sell" Fort Wayne. Jan flew to Virginia on an
assignment with her presentation to motivate 300 employees involved in a major corporate
move to Fort Wayne.
- Jan was the first Fort Wayne agent to place all of her listings on the Internet.
- Jan was the first to have a personal real estate homepage on the Internet. She received
a national award for her Internet Site from the Residential Sales Council in January 1997.
- Jan was the first agent in the area to use a "FAX-BACK" line for instant
detailed information on her listings.
- Jan was the first local agent to use FM radio transmitters for advertising her homes.
- Jan was the first agent in Fort Wayne to obtain the ABR designation (Accredited Buyer
Representative) which has now become very popular.
- Jan is the only agent in the Fort Wayne area and most likely the state to have the SEVEN
real estate designations.
- Jan is the only Fort Wayne-area REALTOR to speak at the Employee Relocation Council
National Convention (the umbrella group for all major corporations who are involved in
relocating employees).
- Jan was guest speaker at the RE/MAX International Convention where she was also
videotaped for broadcasting at a series of future dates.
- Jan has been featured in national real estate magazines and
has had articles published in four real estate magazines.
- Jan was the first area Realtor to install and operate her own automated 24 Hour Property
Information Hot Line.
- Jan was the first area Realtor to offer her clients the free use of a Moving Truck.
- Jan was the first area Realtor to offer a Web based "Virtual Tour" of her
property listings.
- Jan was the first area Realtor to offer free accessory decorating of vacant homes.
- Jan was the first area Realtor licensed as a Broker in Florida
and Indiana
