The 1981 Delorean is an truly international automobile that was built in Northern Ireland for about three years. It is powered by a rear-mounted V-6 fuel-injected engine. With gullwing doors and un-painted stainless steel body, it's styling and materials technology were ahead of the times. Unfortunately, a combination of high selling price, poor market conditions, and the personal excesses of the company's owner, John Delorean, resulted in having only about 8500 of these cars being produced before the company went out of business.
