Buyer Agency Explained

REBAC was founded in 1988 and currently has 6,000 members in all fifty states. Approximately 3,000 REBAC members have achieved the ABR designation. According to Charles Dahlheimer, president of REBAC, "Until very recently, the vast majority of real estate agents worked as exclusive agents of the seller and most buyers were un-represented in the purchase of a home. Today, there is a definite trend toward buyer representation, spurred on in part by the strong efforts of consumer advocates such as Ralph Nader and organizations such as the Consumer Federation of America and AARP. It is our purpose to provide a national registry of real estate agents who not only call themselves buyer representatives but who have had the training and experience to deliver quality service ethically and professionally.
